May Cornubia

May, Cornubia

Cornubia Hall became my dream place from the first time I visited it in 1986. It became my studio in 2001 .This is the first important work I did here that first spring. The building is reflecting into the Hollenbeck brook late in the afternoon. I have painted it many times since but this I consider this to be my signature work.

Heart Moon

Heart's Moon

I began this painting during the full moon in December of 2004. The unusual luminescence shone exactly the day that the devastating tsunami hit in Southeast Asia. It is dedicated to the thousands who lost their lives in that tragedy, hence the title; Heart Moon.

Colt Valley - Summer

Colt's Foot Valley - Summer

This is the most picturesque view in all of Cornwall, Connecticut. This summer scene is one of a series depicting the four seasons of the valley. Going back to the 19th century, many noted painters have shared my view of the magnificence found in this little corner of the earth.

Colt Valley - Fall

Colt's Foot Valley - November

This painting shows a more somber mood of the valley. The large stand of trees in the foreground are much thinner due to a destructive tornado in 1989 - a reminder of impermanence, the nature of everything.

Brunells Farm

Bunnell's Farm

...a classic New England farm near Litchfield, Connecticut. The painting is equally a study of the streaking of the afternoon light across the snow.

Autumn Maples

Autumn Maples

I believe this is among my most successful paintings of the particular brilliance of Autumn foliage in New England.
